Floatfest 2017: Activity Report

General / 05/04/2017

Q: What was Murray Bridge called before the bridges?

“Paddle under the Bridges” is a Floatfest activity in the form of a trail.
Starting at 3.00pm on Saturday April 8 at Sturt Reserve, you will learn the stories of Murray Bridge.
Come on the trail paddle and find out about the Aboriginal association with the place we now call Murray
Bridge and about the first European contact and settlement.

Why was the first bridge across the lower Murray built here? And how did it change the area?
Hear about the paddle steamers that made this place a hub of activity with 16 trains a day being loaded with
goods coming down the river.
